This evenings service is a traditional Eucharist (Holy Communion). The word Eucharist means ‘thanksgiving’ and that’s very much the flavour of the evening. The calm before the storm of Good Friday. After the darkness of Good Friday, the emptiness of Holy Saturday the sun begins to rise.  We begin  the service in darkness, reading about how God began the work to lead humanity out of darkness to new life in the light of Christ.  Then the Easter fire is lit.
